BAGA BEACH & PALOLIM
After Agonda we made our way up to Palolim, which is where Mark's uncle Desmond lives.
We only explored Palolim briefly on scooter, but this was enough to get an insight into Mark's scootering ability. Safe to say his motto was definitely 'ride or die'.
Baga beach on the whole was a let down, probably the first let down of the trip. It is famed for its nightlife and amazing beach filled with shacks. We got liquored up and taxied into baga, on the recommendation of Mark who had previously bagged a fine maiden on the beach. This time it was not as successful. The beach was still vibrant and colourful but it was empty by Indian standards. Whilst there were still many overweight Russians, the nightlife was underwhelming.
When we travelled to the beach the following day it was as expected. Re beach was polluted by unsightly rubbish and Russians. The water was warm but dirty, and the hawkers were out in full force. We had a lovely meal in once of the beach shacks and made our way home feeling underwhelmed.
Overall Goa was a beautiful state, but I much prefer Southern Goa, which is far more relaxed and untouched. Next we are off to Bombay for our final leg of our tour around India. Perhaps Mark will have more luck there?
