Day 26 Great Ocean Road
After Ramsey streets disappointment we decided to take a trip down the Great Ocean road, early start we jumped on a bus with the driver and tour guide Anthony who we decided had the most relaxing voice in the world..he'd talk to you in one and then once he hit the microphone it changed and before you knew it you were asleep! however we were awake long enough to go through a village called Lourn and to another called Apollo Bay (note to self had great croissants) then on to the 12 Apostles which are freak bits of rock sticking out the sea like in the picture above. the road itself was incredible, carved out of the hillside after the 2nd world war, built by returning soldiers and a boost to the economy at the time...you have the sea on oneside and mountain on the other...like the snake pass on drugs! and not leading to Sheffield. After the 12 Apostles we went to another rock thing called London bridge this one you used to be able to walk across as it was like a bridge, hence the name..however Tony told us a story about how a couple had walked across it and completley out of the blue, the bridge bit collapsed think it was in the 90s, so this couple were stranded on the bit you walk to..so they rang the police and said London bridge has fallen down..that got a chuckle and they didnt believe them..eventually they did and sent helicopters etc by this time the media had got on to it and sent film crews, it was a big story in Oz and they wanted interviews with the couple however they were really shy and ran away from the cameras...turned out they were married....to other people....and their affair got broadcast on the national news..must have been gutted about that! anyway after that we headed back to Melbourne for a 3 hour drive i slept through the longest and most boring film ever, all the rivers run west, or east i cant remember, didnt care! it was on for 3 hours and still hadnt finished...great sleep though, i did get a reputation for sleeping on all forms of transport!o and private joke so i dont forget tony's repitition of Melbourne aquarium
