So I find myself in Quepos, a small town just 10 mins drive from the famous beaches of Manuel Antonio. I arrived early at Quepos as I am only spending one day here owing to lack of time and the desire to see as much of Costa Rica as possible, as the more I see of Costa Rica the more I want to see as it is so varied and beautiful.
And Manuel Antonio did not disappoint me. Manuel Antonio is made up of 4 beaches, one which is open to the public at no cost whilst the others are contained within the reserve in which you have to pay $7 (5pounds) to entry into. But it is worth it as the beaches are so beautiful with white sands and blue waters and best of all they were virtually empty. So I spent the day wandering along the beaches and through the dense forest reserve spotting an assortment of wildlife, such as monkeys, sloths and racoons. The reserve also hosts a small waterfall, set deep in the forestry so I hiked up a long dirt path and wadded through ankle deep mud, crossing knee deep streams to arrive at the waterfall, which in itself was very disappointing but there was 2 gorgeous french guys half naked bathing in the waterfall which made it all worth while.
I spent the rest of the day on the beach, swimming in the ocean and lazing on the beach. Then enjoyed a cold beer whilst watching the sunset. So all in all a great day.
I headed back to the hostel to enjoy a night in front of the tv and enjoying the best chocoloate cake in the world-so good I had to have 2 slices-yummy! Before heading to bed early as I had to be up at 4am to catch the 4.30 bus back to Jaco where I have arrange to get a water taxi west to the other peninsular headed to Montezuma a small beach town.
Lets see what Montezuma have to offer.....
