Our first full day in Kigali was Sunday and it started for me very early. While taking in the view from our patio the night before, I had let in some moskitos which decided to buzz around my ear and bite up my arms and hands around 2 am. After trying to fall back to sleep for about 45 minutes, I decided that the moskitos had won and I got up for the day. Once our team got up and moving around, we enjoyed a wonderful 5 hour service at the community center on the property. The praise and worship was incredible and we got to hear some heartbreaking testimonies of survival. I was even able to sing one song in there native language, Kenyirwandan. During the service, we experienced a downpour (like God was pouring down his blessings). After the service, the sun came out, almost like God was now smiling down on us.
We presented some of the items we had brought as gifts to the chef and to the woman who runs the Guest House before enjoying a tour of the city. The tour included some of the smaller genocide memorials, the university, and the real "Hotel Rwanda".
We ended the evening by having dinner with the Director of Solace and his wife (Ben and Stephanie) in their home. We worshiped together and they sang a special song to us in Kenyirwandan.
