Shaking The Tree 2005
Greetings from queensland
I flew from a wet and windy Perth over to the bright blue skies of Brisbane on Thursday. What joy to see the wide blue skies and feel the sun on your face again.
I was booked on the red eye from Perth - departing at 23.25 and arriving at 06.00 the next day in Brisbane. The flight was typical Qantas no veggie meal and the entertainment system did not work.... Disgruntled of Farnborough will be writing a letter again to Aussies finest! I should have known that luck was not on my side as I was chosen for a random explosives search at Perth and guess what yep I tested positive on the first swabs taken from my clothes and shoes! Wonderful it is 22.30 and I have just tested positive for explosives before boarding a flight. Luckily the girl who did the test just shrugged her shoulders and said 'What have you been up to?' She then tested everything else except my shoes and they tested negative and she let me through saying - 'Shoes they pick up everything' She did not check my shoes - and I think it must be the floor cleaner Iain and Alyson use!!!!!!
Anyway safely in Brisbane I was collected by Gary and Sheila and met up with Caroline who had flown over from the UK via Sydney. She has coped with jet lag admirably.
Gary and Sheila now live out towards the Bay in a suburb called Thornlands. The house is beautiful and as they are in the country Kookaburra's, Spangled Drongos and Butcher Birds come into the garden to be feed mince and cat biscuits by Gary! Caroline feed 9 Kookies the other morning.
Whilst Caroline is adjusting to the time difference we have taken things easy. On Saturday we went up the River on the City Cat and wandered around the craft market at Southbank. We marvelled at the chocolate filled bananas and the genuine kangaroo ball gear k*** .. These make great gifts so expect to receive one soon.
My ability to break droughts has struck again and since Sunday the weather has been grey, wet and miserable, however the rain is set to clear today and we have hired a car to head North tomorrow, Tuesday.
The hire car is a bargain as it is a relocation that goes from brisbane to cairns. For the first 4 days it is $5 per day and then $29 per day after that. This means the car will cost us about 7 pounds a day, 3 pounds 50p each ! Bargain ehhh!
We plan to visit Noosa, Hervey Bay - may be see Migaloo the white humpback whale, Airlie Beach and the Whitsundays, Eungella and the Platypus - and of course the Barrier Reef and all those fishes. Then into the red centre and Uluru ....
So I promise more adventures and pictures will be uploaded. My cousin Jo has told me off for not updating the site more in WA..
Hope you are all well send me updates from home and wish Caroline and I luck on the Thelma and Louise adventure that awaits.
Love
Lynne xxxxxx
