Dumbarton Castle, Guard House- probably built in the 16th century. The carved face on the roof (said to be 'the fause/false Menteith' keeper of the castle, who captured William Wallace in 1305). Lots of stairs to climb....

William Wallace Monument - built commemorate the Scots defeat over the English in 1297. In the wooded slopes of Abbey Craig, is where the army led by both William Wallace and Andrew Murray formed up for battle which defeated Edward I's forces. Build in honor of Scotland's freedom fighter.

Argyle Lodgings - purchased from the town council in 1660's by the Earl of Argyll (previously owned by Sir William Alexander - Earl of Stirling). Very interesting house, which has been adapted over the centuries). This house has seen many uses over the centuries.

Stirling Castle - spectacular, must have been truly awesome in its day. Stands on a high volcanic crag and dominates the plains below. Occupied the most important strategic location in the country.
