1 week in Vietnam and I have seen so much already!! This country so far is so different to anything that I have ever experience which is making it the perfect adventure... people over here live on so little it almost makes me feel guilty. The expectation to constantly buy goods from locals is crazy.. and a no thanks is never taken the first time as if because we are tourist we will have a load of money.. A strange concept for a backpacker indeed!! My Asian leg began with a slight visa hiccup in Bangkok that in true SE Asian fashion was promptly sorted with a few extra Baht being thrown around, needless to say I finally arrived in Hanoi. Hanoi in the north is a bustling Vietnamese town that undoubtedly has more motorbike to humans capable of riding them ratio and some of the craziest driving I have ever had the pleasure of experiencing in my life. This is where I met my tour, we headed down south with our first stop being in an ancient town called Hue, it was once the home to the kings of Vietnam and so the old runes, palace and tombs were nothing short of an incredible and beautiful site ! Next stop Hoi An (My favourite place so far). Hoi An is a cute riverside town with a very well deserved reputation for its tailors … I designed myself big red coat of dreams , tailored to fit that will no doubt keep me snug in the all soon to come UK winter. While there, we also got a chance to take a scenic bike ride out into the country side and meet some locals families who amazingly took us in and showed us their way of life… what an amazing experience! Currently me and the group are in Nga Trang, this place is only know for 3 things.. Bars, Beaches and tourist muggings. It has monsooned rained solid for 2 days.. Needless to say the beaches are out and the group has managed to 'loose' a significant amount of baggage, however the bars ARE really great!! We are off to Saigon tonight.. must be honest won't be sad to say goodbye to Nga Trang.
Love to all xxx
