Filled with excitement we arrived on Koh Phi Phi and soon got to our hotel to be confronted by a Thai lady with a massive gob screaming 'you pay now!' as Luke scrambled for his wallet. It was of course in the furthest, most remote corner of the island and as we made the hike up to our room (I'm talking about a full on effing trek through what felt like the amazon) I tried to convince myself it was charming and quaint. That lasted all of about 12 minutes and we were down at reception again in moments but this time she was screaming 'NO REFUNDS' at Luke. Oh dear. Like a true Brit, I chose the passive aggressive option and proceeded to write a strongly worded review on Trip Advisor (pathetic i know). We then set about finding a new pad named Tara Inn which proved to be as lovely as its namesake... Miss Lynch.
The next day we took a long tail boat to Monkey Beach which was absolutely beautiful. The monkies however went from cute to really bloody annoying quite quickly, stealing food and drinks of all the unwitting tourists who dared to turn their backs. I fell asleep on the sand and woke to the sound of hissing.... I opening my eyes to see a huge monkey sat next to me drinking my Fanta and bearing teeth at me. I looked around in panic and where was my knight in shining armour? Floating around in the sea with his little white bum sticking up in the air. Pffff.
