After leaving the beautiful Koh Lanta, we stopped off in Krabi Town to have a rest before our next little adventure. On our first night we explored the town and were lucky enough to stumble upon the wonders of the night market. With its hundreds of shops, stands and street food stalls it was also the venue for the main stage which played host to the local 'talent' show. B-boy, dance troops, ladyboys and strange little kids that looked like the Thai version of America's 'honey boo boo' (Shizzy you know the one!) - hours of fun.
We spent the second day on the beaches of Ao Nang and managed to catch some sun in between the rain storms which sent the hundreds of Russian holiday makers back to their hotels. On a deserted beach, we took the opportunity to have a swim in the ocean in the pouring rain and loved having the whole place to ourselves.
The evening saw us back at the night market with our new found gang of merry men/women and me forcing some poor unwitting guy to leave his food stall, give me his apron and put us all the in the back of his pick up truck in search of 'dancy dancy' (his words not mine). We ended up in a karaoke bar and interrupted the locals having a quiet sing song with Luke grabbing the mic and MCing the whole way through Careless Whisper (an impressive feat by anyone's standards) and me murdering a Mariah classic. You may notice a theme here but the bar went from about 5 tables of people to just us in the time we took to do this - assume the Thai people are just easily intimated by such talent. Needless to say, the night ended with rolled up paper full of Pad Thai in bed and sore heads the next morning.
