About 11 days in to my trip now. Times starting to really fly. Lewis and I arrived in London nice and early on the 7th after a hectic 25 hours of flying. We had a couple of beers a burger before we went back to our rooms for a quick nap before our pre-tour contiki meeting. We missed the meeting, quick napped turned into a 4 hour sleep. Good start
The next day we were up at 6 for our departure. Was actually much earlier because of the jet lag, but atleast we got there this time. Jumped on our contiki bus, met our group for the first time and hit the road to Dover where we caught a ferry or big-boat thing to France. We got to Paris later that day and spent our first night drinking cheap vodka and wine underneath the Eiffel tower.
Our accommodation at Paris was junk, and that's being sincere. The food was garbage and Lewis and I were practically forced to spoon as the beds were that close together.
During the day in Paris we explored and explored, over and over. I don't know what I was expecting of Paris but it's a seriously beautiful city. Of the things ticked off on the to do list, we climbed the eiffel tower, went to notre dame, went and saw miss mona lisa at the louve, and checked out some emperors palace, forgotten his name unfortunately (palace of versailles). But you could tell he was a big fan of excessively large houses, backyards and gold.
Paris nightlife was great. We went to an irish bar next the Moulon Rouge in the red light district on our 2nd night. Plenty of tourists there but also some locals who we attempted to pick up, with our cheesy french one liners. Lewis and I were the last standing from our group, so we thought we'd try hitchhike the 30 Kms home instead of forking out for the taxi. Took us about 2 minutes before we changed our mind for the more sensible of the options.
On my last night in Paris, I went and checked out the cabaret. Surprisingly it was alright. The dancing and singing was broken up by comedy acts which were pretty funny. Plus there were numerous breasts on display throughout the performance, which is never a bad thing.
The next day, we moved on to a French Chateau in Lyon. The views were awesome and so was the wine. Our first night was the World Cup final night, which was watched in good atmosphere. After the game we went down to the sites underground club and partied the night away. Was a pretty fun night. They had these wine shots called ode de morte or something, which i think means death water. 80% alcohol, so rightly so.
After relaxing around the chateau for another day and night we made the long trip down to Barcelona! We didn't get in till late, but we very quickly got our lives organised and hit La Rambla which is the main strip in Barca. We went to some club (the living room) there and spent the night drinking sangria and cocktails. Lewis left me stranded later in the night, but i was in good company with a few contiki friends and certain bar staff. I had a blinder. Although probably spent too much money, stayed out too late, and yea lost my camera! Got home for an enthralling shower before passing out.
Im out of time, to be continued..
