Along with a couple of our tour buddies, Suzy and Long we made our way to Koh Samet for a holiday! Got ourselves all organised and sorted the transport from an agent down Khao San. The journey was only supposed to take 2.5 hours. I think the Thais need to adjust their watches. Had to say goodbye to our little tour family which was too sad, so we all booked into a hostel for 2 nights together. I don't have much to report other than we drank buckets of Sangsom and bought tourist tat down Khao San road as a result. I will almost definitely have to come back in the future because we have failed at doing any culture in bangkok. It's agreed that we are officially templed out. L X

Had a 5 am start in order to spend a bit of time in Chiang Mai. Visited the Tiger kingdom where some of the girls played with baby tigers. Then went to the elephant centre, amazing. Literally dozens of elephants wandering around. We paid to have an hours ride on one. They specifically selected one strong enough for me and jenn.... Thanks. Set off on our 2 day boat journey down the Mekong to the Thai border. Had visions of Fla for 2 days but it's actually quite nice. Had a couple of stops on the way, first was a cave where people visit and leave Buddha statues. There were over 4000 at the last count. Second stop was a hill top tribe ( didn't think about the fact that we'd have to climb the hill to get to it). Was very basic living and half of the kids weren't wearing clothes. We were threatened that the journey to luang prabang would be bad for windy roads so I handed round the travel sickness tablets. Had a van full of sleeping people the whole way. I love these tablets! Saw a lorry that had fallen down a cliff, they'd been trying to get it up for 3 days. We saw one more failed attempt, scary. We've got a huuuuuge room in the hotel.
