Nelson was the first stop on the Kiwi bus that we would spend as the group and driver that would be together for the next week or so.
Not a lot to do in this small town unless you spend money visiting Abel Tasman National park. We were told about a walk you can do to the centre of NZ so a few of us set off. When we eventually found the route it was pretty steep and hard work!
The view over Nelson and the hills behind was well worth it. Even if the information sign told us it's not actually the centre of NZ.
After a visit to the supermarket I cooked dinner and nearly killed everyone with chilli fumes in the tiny kitchen. We then had free beer tasting in the bar of the hostel. The lady doing the tasting was so unenthusiastic it was painful but I can report that the beer tasted good.
A group of us decided to go out to a local bar. We played pool all night and was good to get to know the gang. Even met some weird Kiwis... Great.
