We have been in Munnar for a couple of days now and it is like a whole different country! It took about 6 hours in the car to get here - some of the roads were terrible and about a month ago there were landslides due to the monsoon, so the drivere - thankfully- took his time. The journey was great as we were able to see forests, a wildlife sanctuary and elephants working on the way, and the driver kept stopping for us to get a better look. The place we are staying in is called 'Misty Green Views' and it is exactly that. It is right on the edge of the mountain and the surrounds are the tea plantation, then for as far as you can see are mountains covered in forests. The mist comes over in the evening and you are in a cloud, and gradually clears in the day. Today so far we have been to a tea plantation and factory to learn how the tea is made. We didnt realise but we are at least 4500 ft high - a big difference to sea level on the backwaters! For the rest of the afternoon we have a rickshaw driver taking us to other sites such as a spice plantation and maybe some waterfalls - depending on visability. Tomorrow we will spend the day travelling to Wayanad which we think will take around 12 hours - India is massive! (Also I will upload my own pic when I can get wifi - they are not the elephants we saw believe it or not!)
