Sunday 19th February - Poor Dan what a way to spend your birthday I hear you say! However, I have been thinking about this and he had a brill day. Not only did he gain an extra 4 hours in birthday time because we were traveling west but he was waylaid with new films and a games consol on the plane! Nevertheless, we left Fiji at 6am with a four hour flight to Sydney and then a four hour wait to catch the next flight to Singapore. We were then on the plane for twelve hours reaching Singapore at midnight with nowhere to stay! Eventually found a hotel in a place not too far from Raffles! Monday 20th February - Spent the morning in Orchard Street shopping and trying to obtain visas for Vietnam and Thailand. Went to the Raffles then to the harbor for a bag of fruit and a beer for Dan. Spent the evening in 'Little India', which was a bit of a shock since most of Singapore is so modern and clean and futuristic and Little India was dirty and quite run down. It was like walking from the MRT into a different country! Had an OK curry but started to fall asleep in my dinner from jet lag! Tuesday 21st February - Going on a boat cruise and into China Town tonight for a walk around and something to eat.
