Lucy's Travels
Tuesday 20th December - Had a walk into town an on the main beach, Byron is a bit like the village in that film 'Practical Magic' with Nicole Kidman and Sandra Bullock, quite quaint, hippy and expensive. Dan invested in a new camera since his old one died so we spent the rest of the day playing with his new toy. We did have a bit of a funny moment when we kept looking at clocks in the town and wondering why they were all fast. It got a bit too strange when we went into the camera shop and saw the same time. No one had told us that New South Wales are an hour ahead - we wondered why the man in the hostel seemed angry when we checked out at what we thought was 10am!!
Wednesday 21st December - Up early and started our descent up Cape Byron to the Lighthouse. The walk took us through Main Beach, through Clarke's Beach, past the Pass and along Wategoes Beach, finally reaching the lighthouse. It took us about three hours and stupidly I decided to do it in a skirt and flip-flops - how stupid! Once at the top we saw wild dolphins, the views were breathtaking and this walk took us to the most easterly point of Australia! Tonight we plan to have a bbq and a few drinks - update soon with more!
