Lucy & Cherise's Big Adventure
Arrived in Montevideo after travelling for 28hours!!! Greeted by the lovely Helen and thats where the fun started!!! Staying at Helens was luxury for us compared to the hostels - especially as she lives 2 blocks from the beach! Absolutely ravished - first bit of culture - the local chivito (a steak burger with absolutely everything on) yum yum. Went to the beach where Lucy fried in patches and Helen unwittingly pulled a tramp - we quicky moved when we saw his shoes or lack of them. Lucy put fake tan on thinking it was aftersun oops - woke up the next day like an umpa lumpa lol. Xmas Eve - best one ever! Went to an open air market full of grills cooking ebvery type of meat - Helen and Cherise even ate small intestine and gland and possibly brain - to this day they still do not know!!!! It was a crazy day - thousands of ppl filled the square. Everyone was drinking medio medio (sparkling wine local tipple) however unbeknown to us - the local tradition was to throw drinks over everyone. We got whole bottles poored over us - you can imagine the smell when arrived back at helens. Went home at 5 to sober up for the night. At 12pm, with a drink in our hand (again!!!) watched the fireworks from the roof terrace all over Montevideo- amazing sight! Very dangerous walking whilst little kids set of fireworks and even next to petrol stations!!! Went to club with free champagne (classy birds) and danced cumbiancha (local salsa) till the sun came up - Magic!! Xmas day - only 4 hours sleep but spent xmas day on the beach in Santa hats - what fools did we look like but it had to be done!! Went for uruguayan xmas dinnermade by a romanian - biggest cake ever which Helen managed to polish off whilst me and cherise were defeated! Watched the sun go down whilst sat in a beach bar. Went to bed early - well uruguayan early! Next day chilled out - went for nice meal and after sat on the promenade, chatting and dancing in the street till the early hours of the morning. Went to Punta del Este - really famous holiday resort for Argentinians, Uruguayans and Brazilians (muscles) really nice and chilled out. Now on our way to Buenos Aires to celebrate new year - im sure well have a few stories from there! Dragging Helen with us - may the fun continue!!! Hope you have a great new year and that santa brought you all you wished for xxx
