Arrived early wednesday morning slightly confused after missing a day out (time difference)!?! Only had 5 days in the north island so decided to hire a car named Isabel. Arrived at 4.30am and within 4 hours we were on the road with her. Headed straight to Coromandel peninsular. Saw some amazing scenary ( beaches and countryside). Went to the hot beach where there was meant to be hot water but not very hot. Next day, headed to Rotarua which stunk of sulphur. From there went to Matamata (Hobbiton where Lord of the Rings was filmed) - felt like hobbits for the day, saw the party tree and Bilbos house! Went to a kiwi park and saw a kiwi (the famous bird of New Zealand). Next day did the Tongariro crossing and trekked 17 km in day - beautiful scenary. Walked past Mount Doom from Lord of the rings in the snow. Headed back to Auckland to catch our flight to the south island. Went up the sky tower.
