Lucy & Cherise's Big Adventure
Arrived at the Bolivian border - quite excited but started to worry when we realised that the queue to cross over to Argentina was about a mile long and the Bolivian queue just comprised of us two! Had to catch an overnight bus to Potosi - adventure travel it was!!! Huge lightning storm and window wouldnt close so Lucy got wet through, temperature dropped to minus 500, coach constantly swerving to avoid collisions, after 4 hours stopped for a toilet break - luxury! - a shack with a hole - WE TOLD YOU THIS TRAVELLING LARK WASNT ALL FUN AND GAMES!!!!! At 4.30 am arrived 3 hours early at Potosi with no where to stay. Luckily we managed to tag along with a middle aged Bolivian woman and a Argentinian hippy who managed to find us a hostel to stay in! All was well in the end...that was until the next day....Extremely tired and hungry after living of biscuits for the past day.. ventured into the town. What we didnt realise is that it was festival time and its tradition for children to throw water bombs - being blonde we were the main targets!! Wet and hurting, we turned back to the hostel defeated - the next few days ended up a game of avoiding all the school kids (didnt work)! Apart from that little problem - really liked Potosi - used to be the richest city in South America (that was 300 years ago)!
