... on 10 Dec each year. The city was founded in 1049, from 1397 to 1624 Norway was governed by the Danes. In 1624 it burnt to the ground but was resurrected by the humble King Christian IV, who named it Christiania, after himself. In 1814 Norway was unified with Sweden but became a separate kingdom again in 1905. In 1925 Christiania finally reverted to the name Oslo.
