Oslo harbour
We continued on the Bergen-Oslo railway line from Gjeilo to Oslo, where the harbour was much more of a magnet than the main street, Karl Johans Gate. The latter forms an axis running from outside the central station to the Royal Palace. Sadly, quite a few homeless people were to be seen in this not particularly inspired main street. Although it was grey and slightly rainy, the harbour fascinated, with its wharves, monstrous great red-brick "Rådhuset" (town hall), Nobel Peace Centre and Akershus castle and fortress, not to mention the many yachts and other boats docked there.
