Geilo - Dr. Holms Hotel
This is a very famous, olde worlde hotel which is perhaps a little past its prime. It was opened in 1909 by Dr Holms, a specialist in respiratory diseases, who established the resort along with Ole Schroder II so that his patients could breathe fresh mountain air. The staff appeared to be predominantly Swedish (one working at the bowling alley snack bar wasn't even able to translate "kylling", which apparently means "chicken") as there are many more summer jobs in Norway than in Sweden and the pay is good. Don't forget - Norway has oil!
