We have spent 4 nights in Venice, we stayed at Camping Alba D'Oro which is about 20 minutes outside of Venice. It has nice accommodation consisting of tents and cabins. The cabins are slightly hot although not half as bad as Florence! It also has a pool with 2 jacuzzi's...So I was very happy to squeeze in some sunbathing! We spent the first 2 days going to the pool and then to the bar in the evening and we ventured into Venice on the 3rd. We caught a shuttle bus into Venice and had some pizza on a side street as it was cheaper. We then went to the Rialto and also St. Marks Sqaure. Even at 6 in the evening it was heaving, people and pigeons everywhere! But such an amazing place words cannot even describe - Look at the photos!! We headed back to the campsite and hit happy hour at 9pm. Spent the night drinking with Penny - Our New Zealand friend - and others we had met. Penny if your reading this - I saw a billygoat yesterday....HA HA On our last day we spent the day by the pool and played some cards - Penny spent the day with us too. We hit the bar for happy hour (yes again!) and started drinking and playing some more cards. A group of three lads asked to join us and they taught us a drinking game as they were uni students. We spent the next 5 hours drinking, dancing and playing cards - You can see the night from the photo's!! Really enjoyed myself in Venice, would definitely recommend this campsite for anyone thinking of going.
