Hiya gang! Greetings from Malaysia with Delhi belly! Oh yes, we've had a gutful of it, literally, for the past 6 days! Left Udaipur on 25.11.06 at 6pm to catch the 7:30 train to Ahmemabad on the sleeper. Loz had already started to feel queasy and had had diarrhoea, good start! Slept most of the way to Ahmemabad (James played solitaire and ate sweets the whole way!) The sleepers were about 5ft long and 2ft wide, perfect for Loz but bit cramped for big Jimbo! Had an Indian underneath us the whole way, Jim offered him a Fox's mint (only the one), not that he knew what it was, thought it was chocolate, obviously doesn't have corner shop relatives in England! Arrived at the station at 3:40 and had to kill about 4 hours til next train to Mumbai in the worst station we have ever been in! Piss and flem everywhere! Loz started to get sick now and Jim wasn't far behind in the dash to the loo! Finally got on the train to Mumbai, the next 9 hours were the longest of our lives, smelly Indians constantly eating smelly food, spitting, with us two taking it in turns to visit the so-called toilet! (a hole in the floor directly onto railway track, full of bugs and never been cleaned, good job we had our own toilet roll x2 + wet wipes!!) Arrived in Mumbai at about 4:30pm and got taxi straight to the airport only to be told that we couldn't check in until midnight! Great! Set up camp next to the toilets and tried to get some kip, looked like a right pair of tramps but didn't care, felt even worse! Flight arrived in Colombo, Sri Lanka at 6am, quick toilet stop then onto next plane to KL. Arrived at hotel about 3pm and went to bed! As we were supposed to be here for Christmas we'd booked a hotel for our stay here, we managed to get it changed to the earlier dates and what a good job with the way we were feeling! Stayed in bed til next midday, never felt so ill in all our lives, cheers India! Spent next few days in hotel trying to recover, had to call doctor who gave us both a wad of drugs (16-20 a day!) and an injection in our bums (a cork would have been more use!) Finally got out of hotel room on Thursday to have a little look around KL. First impressions are fantastic! Bustling city, full of business people and mad shoppers. The malls are full of Luis Vuitton, Prada, Boss, Armani, everything you can imagine, and yes even good old Marks and Spencer (sarah & James you'd have a field day!) Skyscrapers galore and the towers (from Entrapment) are well impressive, especially at night! Not the place for a holiday but a few days is well worth it before heading off to the beach, they look fantastic! We'll be coming back one day to sample them for definite! Planning to visit the zoo (so James can see the orangutangs and tigers), the orchid gardens and chinatown market to get some cheap sports clothes for Oz! Shorts, T-shirts and vests, we've heard its quite hot there! Unlike at home eh! Talking of the weather, we've seen the best thunderstorms since arriving here, the downpours are amazing, like standing under a power shower!
Have rescheduled our flight to Perth for 10.12.06 so should get us there in time to sort ourselves out ready for Christmas on the beach!
Unfortunately James is still not well and is wasting away in front of me (well, he's lost his beer belly anyway!) So taking the sightseeing easy and doing it slowly, luckily not loads to see and do here anyway. Lets hope he starts to pick up very soon, any ideas Mrs Phillpot?
Speak soon, how is everyone back there? More importantly Jim says: where's my spurs updates? I hear the Arsenal aren't doing too good! Shame!
Love to you all
