It has been about a week and i'm still committed to keeping this blog up to date. We have done a fair bit of travelling up the northern coast of Peru and we are in a great little town of Mancora at the minute.
The first stop after Lima was a place called Trujillo. We caught an overnight bus and thankfully my short arse legs fitted into the seats just fine so I was able to get some kip. Pete on the otherhand was not so lucky, I think he managed an hour of sleep out of the eight..haha! Although when we got toTrujillo it didn't look over appealing so we decided to head out to Huanchaco!
At this stage of the trip (less than a week in) I was convinced I was on top of the language and the weird combi bus system they have here. Basically they are hi-ace vans with guys hanging out the side window shouting the names of the stops and then you jump in if it suits ya.. Sometimes while they are still moving. After walking for about a half hour we decided to bail on that challange and pay the extra 2 euro for a cab. Cabs are so cheap over here. A good spin for like twenty mins is only about 2.5 euro and you don't have to listen to the cabbies opinion on the state of the economy - win win!!
Pete and I organized a surf lesson for the following day and I must say were very lucky and got a really decent lesson and were able to somewhat surf after it. We took the boards out again that afternoon but we were wrecked so we didn't last that long. Then you see these like ten year old kids fighting each other while surfing the waves!! When I am surfing I literally need to set up an exclusion zone around me and hand out waterproof liability waviers as I am liable to end up anywhere despite the direction o the waves. The town itself was pretty quiet as it was off season and there was a ridiculous amount of dogs in the place.
Last Friday we took another bus to a place called Chiclayo, not really sure why we went here it's just another city place but I think since we had the time we said we would stop by. Ended up hanging out with a bunch of folks from the peace corps who were actually good fun. The bus we had to get at nine am the next morn was not as much fun. It has also been proven that my dancing to salsa/reggae is as bad as my dancing back home.
We are just finishing up a few days in Mancora (blog pic is the hostel we are staying at). It is apparently the main resort for Peruvians during the summer but for now it's just full of gringos. Lots of great restaurants and hostels are good fun at night.
We are just about to catch a night bus to Ecuador. Bus is not till 1.30am so we have a few hours to kill. Should be getting into Guayaquil tomorrow morning providing the border crossings go as planned...
Until next week lads and lassies I'll update ye on life in Ecuador.
Later.

Aidan Dude sounds like a great trip so far... A bit like the littlest hobo ( sing ... Maybe tomorrow I think I settle down until tomorrow I keep on moving round ..........with you been the human version of the shows canine star. Nevertheless at least you were far enough away from the cork hurlers who put in a poor show last week and will be sitting on their arses till next year. The footballers are much better as they are taking the scenic route to the all Ireland this year. Weather is poor here for the past few weeks so thinking about a week in Italy . So pasty paddy skin on the Italian beach here we come . Till next time .. Oh by the way leave the salsa dancing to shakira she is much better at it than you and she is right "the hips don't lie " no matter how much rum you have on board .....
