After a nice Western Breakfast at the hotel, Principal Ma, his wife, and Alice picked me up and we visited the National Northwest Agriculture University. It is the #2 Ag university in Northern China. We walked the campus looking at many flowers, bushes, trees and monuments. We walked around for 3 hours….yes, 3 hours. There were some interesting pieces. In their "playground" I saw long rows of outdoor table tennis tables. Never seen that before. (See pictures in the next post.) We then walked through the insect museum grounds…yes, insect museum. It was interesting, but I was hoping to start meeting and speaking with students. I chose to smile and exercise my patience. Thought of you Neil Branson!
We then ate lunch. Vegetables were very flavorful. Lots of veggies…my wife would be so proud. J
We proceeded to the Agriculture University's research facility. We got a tour of the innovations they are studying in growing quality vegetables with no soil. It was actually very interesting. The young tour guide looked like she was 15 yrs. Old, but she was in her 20's. So young. I also got see some apartments made of cargo shipping boxes. They were very cool.
We ended the day walking through a few local parks full of families (kinda fun). We then ate dinner…more good veggies. J
Tomorrow we visit PuJi High School. Should be fun. J
