Kuala Lumpur
On the 25th feb I arrive at Kuala Lumpur airport and have to negotiate my way to the hostel by bus and then monorail - I've never been sooooo hot, lugging all my stuff for over an hour was not fun, but eventually I made it without getting lost!
The hostel lot are a lively bunch, and very quickly we are all having a few beers and the venture off out to Reggae mansion where the was some really bad karaoke! They didn't have the words on the screen it was all done off of phone so it was never going to be good, and when the Dutch guys got up to sing barbie girl you knew it wasn't going to be good. It's was a good night, by about 2am it was time for a mcdonalds and then some well needed sleep!
The next day I did a bit of exploring, found my way to the convention centre and gardens to see the patronas towers which were very impressive. In the evening I headed off on the 2hr journey to find Asia's biggest skating rink 'The Wheels' I got all the way there to find it was shut, even though the poster on the door confirmed it should be open. Hacked off was not the word, I was well and truly fed up, so back on the train for another 2 hrs! Got back to the hostel, dumped my skates and went in search of food at midnight. Got food and then had a lovely catch up with mum which made me feel much happier :)
On the 27th I headed off to FRIM where they have the canopy walkway, this was the other reason I decided to come to KL ( the other being the skating rink, but the less said about that the better!). After a 500m trek to the top I walked the walkway, it was very very wobbly, I was quite glad that I was the only one on it, can't imagine what it would have been like if there had been more people on it. The views were fantastic and I could see KL from where I was. Having finished the walkway I then went to the Batu Caves, more steps and more of my favourite animals, the monkeys! There were chasing people for their foods. The caves were huge and the steps very steep. It was quite touristy up there, not really what I had expected if I'm honest. But still glad I went. I got back to KL and treated myself to an iced coffee to cool down. After I packed I went back to Patronas Towers at night which looked even better the during night. So it's been a quick couple of days in KL, next stop Singapore (well, actually as I write this I'm sitting in the airport whilst waiting to leave for oz!!!)
Hope everyone is well
