Cape Trib! (we wrote this however wasn't able to add to the web!)Well we have finally reached Cairns and as soon as we arrived we wanted to leave! Only that we really wanted to see the Daintree National Park and well we have time to come back to Cairns and have a wonder around. So we drove the extra 2hr drive to get to Cape Trib. Well what an experience, It started with a drive from Cairns up to The Cape, where the roads where amazing! Not only where they winding roads but the scenery was breathtaking, sea on the one side, rainforest on the other. So we could see the rainforest in it's entirety we decided to go horse riding on the first day and then jungle surfing (swinging from the tress in harnesses!) the following day. The first one was something that Pete had always wanted to do and god was he in his element. He really felt like he belonged on the horse and it was great to be riding through the rainforest and then onto the beach. I was riding Duke and Pete was on Billy, both thoroughbred working horses that were both very intelligent and knew the track inside and out. We tried a little bit of cantering and trotting and I have to say it was great fun! So now we had seen the rainforest from the ground it was time to head to the trees! A company who are rock climbing experts do fox flying over 5 platforms that are suspended up to aprox 150 feet. They attach you to ropes and harnesses and you "fly" through the trees! Again superb fun with a lot of information given to you at each platform about the rainforest (so educational as well as adrenalin pumping!) We also managed to get a day diving in and being on the reef again was amazing and we so want to spend as much time out here as possible and increase the amount of dives we have done. So with that said we now sit in Port Douglas, the town we are supposed to be spending Christmas, however due to the fact we want to get back on the reef we have found a live-aboard (a boat we can live on for a certain amount of time) that will take us out to the outer reef (supposedly the best dive sites on the Great Barrier) over Christmas. This means we are setting sail on the 24th December and arrive back on the 27th December. The boat is designed for divers only so we should be able to get in about 10 dives over a three day period! The boat takes you to many different reefs so it will be our chance to dive as much of the Great Barrier as possible! Plans of Christmas on the beach are long gone and now we will be at sea! We have however gone to the camp site that we were going to stay at and it's a good job we did as we received your packages/cards! Thank you to those who sent cards, it was a lovely surprise and it will be really nice to open them on Christmas Day!So here we sit eating ice cream at 7 in the evening in an internet café after having a lovely meal on the harbour in Port Douglas. We will try and keep in contact before Christmas as, funnily enough, they don't have wire-less on the boat !!For anyone we don't speak to have a wonderful Christmas and a superb New Year Louise and Peter x
