From Hanoi we fly down to Hue, a few hours north of our R and R destination. We decided to stop here as we are now ticking off the UNESCO World Heritage Sites and this is one. By noon, our hotel is found (very nice too with a free upgrade to a superior room, this travelling in NO season has its perks!) bags dropped and we are walking towards the Imperial City. In this city the main form of tourist transport is a man riding a bike pushing you in a pram type contraption on the front, several followed us for sometime not quite understanding that we wanted to walk. It seems walking in this country, unless in the fields, is something of a phenomenon.
We arrive at The Citedal , pay our entrance fee and wander round the royal palace (see pics). The place is calm and peaceful a much needed change. Although exhausted we manage to walk back to the hotel crossing the majestic perfume river and siesta before the night exploring.
We find a recommended western travellers restaurant the DMZBar and enjoy an evening of good food and free pool! The bus is booked for an 8am road trip to a destination where we can finally unpack!
