This morning I went for a wander around as we had some time to kill before the bus. I went to a cafe for breakfast and was talking to a local who used to live in Evesham - what are the chances?? I had got a bit desperate for stuff to do and decided to do the Lady Dive tour of Ottawa (bus turned boat). It was fun in the end.
Then I went back to meet Kerry and we checked out and went for a stroll around. At lunchtime we went into the food area of the Ottawa jazz festival - j had garlic potatoes, and a chicken wrap thing. Totally yum but gosh was I full.
At 4 we boarded the bus to Montreal. Arriving at 6.30. What happened next was funny ish. The cab driver wouldn't take us to our hotel as he said it was only round the corner and the main road was closed. Kerry had a few hissy fits along the way but we finally got to the hotel - there was no road closure and it wasn't 'round the corner'. It's also called the celebrities - it's not for celebrities!
Anyway, we checked in - only to find there was no lift. So we carried out bags up to the third floor. Then there was the room - a shower in the bedroom, ideal for exhibitionists!
We got changed and then headed out for the local food - poutine - a restaurant recommended by the cab driver. Poutine is fries, covered in stuff. Traditionally gravy and cheese curd. I had one covered in beef, guacamole and tomatoes. I couldn't even eat half I was still full from lunch!
Then we grabbed a cab to Old Montreal. Lovely part of town, very very European. We watched a street performer, hunted for an ATM, and went to a bar for a drink. Turned out to be a champagne bar - cocktails $20 (sheesh), but the bar maid gave us our money back because we were English and she wanted to buy them. Nice lady! Wish I'd have had something other than pineapple juice now - hey ho.
Now I'm just getting into bed - it's 1am. Something exciting is happening tomorrow so I need my beauty sleep.
