So it took nearly 9 hours by coach to get from Cochin to Conoor (our next stop in the Nilgiry Hills).
It was a long journey, but some of the time passed by watching a Bollywood film called Lagaan. It was a really good film which covered a lot of issues, and of course included good old song and dance routines! Apparently it was nominated for an Oscar!!
We arrived in Conoor, so there wasn't much time to do anything apart from having a nice stroll in the cool air. It was so good to get out of the heat!
The next morning we got up early to catch a small train to Ooty - another hill station. The views from the train were fantastic! With the climate being so cool there were lots of crops to see in the hills including tea, carrots, cabbages, rice (erm can't remember the rest). Once in Ooty we visted a tea factory. It was interesting (but not as good as the tea factory in Sri Lanka), also the tea wasn't great. Indians seem to love really milky, really sweet tea, which I can't stand! Yuk!!
After the tea factory we only had a short time to wander around, so we decided to visit the botanical gardens. They were very well kept and it was a shame we didn't have longer or we could have had a nice picnic there or something.
Anyway.......we grabbed some lunch (well tried to quickly get lunch, but doing anything fast in this country is near impossible) and got back on the coach to travel to Mysore!!
The journey continues.....
