*DYLAN*
The trip begun with the usual drag of a long haul flight. Nothing really exciting to report. Seated with Callum for the two flights (Perth to KL - KL Tokyo) meant that we would have to be seated next to a stranger each time. The first person we sat next to had a bad breath smell that will outlast religion so we were unluckily stuck with him for the first leg. Onto the second leg and we were much luckier this time, seated next to a personal encyclopaedia he was more than happy to provide us with interesting facts from why the plane is made of aluminium not steel, to which city lights we were looking down at mid-flight. He was a refreshing change from old mate with the bad breathe and made the second flight slightly less of drag. By all reports, Blake and Lou had no troubles with their passengers. We arrived safely in Tokyo and next had the task of catching the train to our accommodation. At midnight on a Tuesday, we were confident we would have plenty of room to stretch the legs on the train...oh how we were wrong. With each station we stopped at, 2 people would get off and another 20 would get on. The expected result was a shoulder to shoulder train carriage with plenty of elbows in the side and pushes in the back. The majority of train stops had the passengers exiting to the left hand side of the train. With this in mind we made an educated decision and tucked ourselves into the left hand side of the train hopeful of an easy exit at our station the next stop.....surprise surprise our stop was a right hand side exit from the carriage so we were forced to assemble a tight scrum and push ourselves through the sardines of people and out the other side of the carriage. Our first Tokyo lesson was learnt, don't be afraid to push, elbow, knee, squeeze or pull your way in and out of the train.
We found our accommodation without any troubles and after the receptionist who was on work experience charged Blakes credit card twice for the accommodation and we grabbed a big mac for dinner. Stomachs satisfied we were off to bed.
