Louise & Lucy's Trek: Round The World In 80 Days
Left VERY early on Friday for a trip to Alice (Springs, in case you were wondering who the f*** Alice is!). Went to Katherine Gorge for some kayaking... where our tour guide decided to abandon us to the rapids while he went off in the bushes with a Danish girl!! Was great fun though, and we shared the river with some 'freshies' (thats fresh water crocodiles to all you laymen!).
Went to a campsite, and we know what you are thinking, Louise and Lucy camping, again!! But to be fair the showers were better than the ones in the hostel in Darwin!
On Saturday we got up VERY early again! Can you see a theme emerging?! And went to the thermal pools in Matalanka where the water is a balmy 35 degrees all year round - very cold when you get out though, plus you smell of sulphur too!
We had a grand total of 750km to travel that day - so sights were few and far between... but we went to Daly Waters pub, where we managed to double the population of the town just by turning up! We enjoyed a couple of sips of beer before handing the mugs over to a 20 year old German boy - who naturally was very good at polishing them off!
Went to another campsite that evening, where we slept under the stars in our 'swags'... it sounds romantic, but it was bloody freezing! (excuse our language, but it really was bloody freezing!). We also had to check the swags for lizards, and spiders, and snakes - oh my! We both saw our first shooting star in the morning, although it really didnt 'shoot' in a blaze, it just kind of floated along... bit disappointing really! But we still wished anyway!
Got up early again, and went to see the 'Devils Marbles' - a big rock formation where lots of geology stuff happened. Then we went past Australians answer to Roswell. But we didnt see any aliens, although the local populace were a bit strange. We then crossed the Tropic of Capricorn and landed in Alice Springs!
We cant seem to put photos on at the moment, but hopefully you will be able to see them soon! Lucky, lucky, lucky, you're so lucky!
Sorry its so boring, but we are a bit sleepy and in a rush! Have to get up again at 5.30 tomorrow to go to Ayers Rock! Ta ta for now, will update you when we get back in a few days time! xxx
