Finally the day had arrived to move on. The apartment was packed up, the bikes packed. Time to head to the ferry over to Colonia del Sacramento, Uruguay.
Customs was no problem, just a form to be filled out by a rather large man sat in a very small office. Four bikes entering, the other two were from Chile! Hell I'm now realising that these south American bikers are just as well travelled as us Europeans.
Entering Uruguay you get a much more chilled out safe vibe, this is definitely more noticeable after the full on experience of Buenos Aires. There's actually air here.......
Accommodation wasn't that difficult but all but one hostel was fully booked.......some Brazilian bikers showed us a hotel they had been using. We thanked them dully and said goodbye.
$105 for a triple room !!!!!
We'll be using that one as a last chance.........!!
Just so happened that the last hostel had beds available - $20 ! Fantastic ! Only problem was the very kind Brazilian bikers were parked right outside the front talking to the motorbike shop owner next door ! Ooops .....sorry !!!!
Colonia del Sacramento is a lovely little old smuggling town, so not much to see but nice place to wander around, grab a cool beer or two and some great food with awesome views over the harbour, whilst watching the sun go down.
Quite remarkably everyone clapped as the sun disappeared over the distant horizon......bunch of bloody weirdos !
