So it was very sad to leave Liz and Will in sydney, we had an amazing 2 weeks there, finished off with another delicious roast dinner and cocktails. We headed to Canberra as a stopover between sydney and melbourne. Well, seeing as its the capital we thought there must be some stuff to do there, we were wrong!there is nothing there!A few musuems which we didnt want to go in, so we literally wandered around the parliament building, walked around some shops and that was it!Luckily we only had one day there. And it was freezing, think we jumped about 10 degrees down on arriving so felt very chilly compared to what we are used to!
We then arrived in melbourne, and went exploring on our first day. Stayed in a brillaint hostel, best one we have stayed in down the whole coast, mainly because they give you lots of free stuff, (like a nice towel, how good did that feel, you really appreciate small luxuries like that after a while!). We hired a car the next day and took a trip down the great ocean road. Luckily we had a gorgeous day for it so saw some stunning views, had lots of fun driving along the coastal road, felt like a rally track at times as really windy road, alex loved it!We saw the sunset over the 12 apostles, beautiful. We then stopped overnight in a town called Warranbool, before driving back again the next day. Saw some koalas in the trees, they are my new favourite animal, i love how cute and cuddly they look!I wanted to pick one out the tree and take it home!
We did the neighbours tour at the weekend, really good, saw the back set like lassiters, charlies bar, harolds shop and the lake. We met Janelle Timmonds who used to be in it years ago, dont know why she still turns up for these things!Headed to ramsey street, which is tiny!So much smaller in real life, but so surreal being there. took the cheesy photo with the fake sign.
We went to see an aussie rules footie game on sunday at the MCG, massive stadium which holds 100,000, though only about 30,000 there when we went. Quite good fun trying to learn the rules. Seems a bit like rugby to me and it goes on for far too long, 2 hours is to much!
We moved down to st kilda and explored around that area, not warm enough for the beach though. Walked around albert park where they have the grand prix, saw the pit lane and the garages. Then we went to the neighbours night in the evening, best night ever!Met Rachel Kinski, Stingray, amy greenwood who was in it years ago (lances girlfriend!), and Dr Karl. What a legend, I gave him a hug and kiss and told him how lovely it was to meet him (so cheesy!). Got loads of photos of Dr karl singing with his band, amazing fun, they just sing loads of covers, brilliant. And saw paul robinson sing as well, he was actually quite good!Probably because i was quite drunk!
Yesterday we finally did the whole sightseeing thing around melbourne, wandered around the city and rode around on trams for free, no one seems to bother paying!
Anyways flying to NZ today which im so excited about, but not really looking forward to how cold it is going to be. Going to have to invest in a fleece when i get there!
Lots of love, missing you
