We ended our stay on Ko Phangan by having a drink with 'Accommodation Dan' and his Aussie mate whilst watching the footie.
On Monday morning we trekked with our increasingly heavy backpacks (too many nice shops!) into Haad Rin and had a banana shake for breakfast before a final spending spree! We took the 50 minute ferry over to neighbouring Koh Samui at 11.50am.
On arrival in Koh Samui we took a taxi to the resort of Maenam and secured another (larger, more sturdy and cheaper!) beach hut at Morning Glory. We then spent the afternoon walking along the beach and wandering the streets of the town before sitting on the balcony (yes we even have a balcony) watching the sun go down. In the evening we headed back along the main strip to a Thai restaurant for Spicy Seafood Salad - Laura and Fried Prawns and Cashew Nuts for Sarah before settling in a sea front bar eating tirimisu biscuits and drinking coffee!
This morning we woke to the sound of the waves lapping on the beach and headed to the trusty 7/11 for breakfast! We then decided to walk along the main Samui road to 'Big Buddha', taking our time to look at the views and look in the shops on the way, as well as sampling some more streetfood - this time some kind of fried fish. After taking all the photographs we needed and watching a plane come into land, we took a songthaew into the main resort on the island - Chaweng.
The town was bustling and we shopped and walked on the busy but beautiful beach for a few hours, making a few purchases, before taking a motorbike taxi back to Maenam to get ready for our meal in a beachside restaurant, then an early night ready for our day travelling to Koh Phi Phi on the other side of Thailand tomorrow.
