Our earliest start yet, 4.00am! Both found it difficult to sleep last night, Sarah - due to the noise from local bars (sounded like a street party!) and Laura - she was convinced that there were lizards and spiders crawling around the room!
Our taxi arrived at 5.00am and we headed on the 20 minute trip to Ajmer station and got away without paying for the taxi! Cashback! - You scam us, we scam you!
Train left at 6.15am and was once again very comfortable, but the journey to Udaipur took over 6 hours. - Numb bums to say the least!
We had a free rickshaw to the hotel, where we had to climb a mountain (okay, a very steep hill!) to reception and dumped our bags in our room.
This afternoon was spent organising the next few trains. We were extremely worried about the fact that there would be no availability on the train we needed form Mumbai to Goa. However, that was the was easy part, the one we had problems with was from Udaipur to Mumbai, which was full to the 8th of November. PANIC! Luckily, we had a breather and re-routed from Udaipur to Mumbai, via Ahmedabad. Unfortunately, for the second leg of the journey, we are in the cheap seats, with no air con!
The rest of the afternoon was spent wondering around, familarising ourselves with the town and catching up with the essentials, i.e. washing!
We a lovely fruit and veg korma, as the sun set, on the rooftop terrace of our hotel, overlooked by the City Palace.
