We have finally made it!
After the tearful goodbyes at Heathrow and the plane delayed cos the food wasnt on (obviously the most important thing!) we finally took to the sky at 6.25pm on Sunday. Good flight but struggled to sleep, not sure if we were too excited or just uncomfortable! Had our first curry of the trip on board!
We arrived in Delhi at 6.55 am and cleared customs easily! Thank God! Our backpacks also made it safely!
Met our taxi man easily in the terminal and embarked on an 'interesting' journey to the hotel.
Although there are lane markers people tend to drive wherever they want and use their horns ALL the time! The taxi driver was quite informative and we made it to the 'Smyle Inn' safely.
After a couple of hours essential kip we decided to head out into the main bazaar which was an experience, men were following and talking to us all the time but we managed to make it to the tourist info for a map and some info on trips, trains and tours!
Its really hot at the moment so we have decided to come indoors to plan the rest of the week and then head out for a proper taste of Indian food later!
...(9.15pm) Well, we've just got back from our first real taste of proper India Cuisine - the verdict? - Excellent! Two curries, rice, chapatis and drinks for less than 4 quid! Mustn't grumble! Could get used to this, but wait until the Delhi Belly hits us later!
The Main Bazaar is still a hub of excitement, with it even busier in the evening than during the day, with the cows still roaming the streets.
Getting an early night to catch up on the jetlag, so we're fully re-fueled for another day on the town tomorrow.
