Today we were up bright and early and enjoying breakfast of fruit, bread and banana cake at 7.30am. Our transport to the Argentinian side of the falls arrived in the form of a rickety old school bus, with bench-like seats, at 8.30am and we left the hostel around 8.45am. En-route to the falls we had a brief supermarket stop and then spent some time clearing immigration on both the Brazilain and Argentinian sides. We also managed to change our leftover paraguyan money!
We finally arrived at Parque de Iguazu, Argentina at just after 11.00am. We headed straight along the ´green trail´a short walk through the parkland to the start of the upper circuit pathway. We strolled along the path enjoying the magnificent views of numerous different waterfalls and fantastic park scenery. Once we had finished the upper circuit we headed to the lower circuit for even more spectacular views of the waterfalls, from many different aspects. From the base of the lower circuit we boarded the jet boat for a fantastic, exhilerating ride towards the Devils Throat and numerous other waterfalls, we had a couple of photo opps before we were told to put our cameras away in the waterproof bags provided, then we headed underneath a couple of the falls, getting absolutely drenched, despite the fact we had tried to protect ourselves with our macs! The jet boats was a lot of fun and once we had finished we dried off by heading over to San Martin Island, for even more viewpoints. By this time it was mid-afternoon and we walked back to the top of the upper circuit to catch the slow train to the awesome Devils Throat. The journey took about 20 minutes and on the train heading in the opposite direction we spotted some irish girls we had met in Chile.
Finally we arrived at the station and walked along the boardwalk for about 1000 meters, spotting a lazy aligator in the river beneath us. We reached the spectacle of the falls and were speechless at the noise and power of the water falling around us. We spent a bit of time there in awe and taking pictures before returning to the park entrance by train.
At 6.00pm everyone was back on board the bus and we headed back into Brazil, after a few drop offs at the Argentinian hostels. We arrived back at the hostel around 7.00pm and relaxed before our buffet tea of salad, ribs, rice and beans, then crashed into bed.
