Hi everyone,
Sorry it's been a while we have been too busy sunning ourselves.
We arrived on Koh Phi Phi fine after a rather bumpy boat trip, we turned up with no where to sleep so off we set to find a bed for the night and ended up next to an Irish bar that didn't close til 2am! It's was noisy as once the bar closed the clean up began as did the DIY. Twice I got woken up by someone banging nails in and using an angle grinder at 4am!!! Luckily we didn't have anything to do during then day other than lay on the beach. Or rather sit in the sea as it was soooooo hot (36-37 degrees) the sea was quite shallow so it was nice to sit in the water until the second day when we were sat there minding our own business and a turd floated passed!!!! Ruined the paradise moment a bit and we moved pretty quickly.
On our last day here we booked a boat trip on a longboat which didn't get off to the best start when it wouldn't start so the driver hit it with a hammer, which didn't work. He then took a piece off which seemed to do the trick and we were off. Which was ok until we hit the open water and realised longboats weren't really made for the sea!!! I was holding on for dear life and planning which life jacket was mine! Our first stop was monkey beach where the monkeys have learnt that tourists bring water bottles which they steal and pierce to drink the water from. Very cute but not really very wild like. Next stop was Viking Cave where we we're told to swim even though it was very deep and the current was quite strong. Never the less in we jumped and it was quite nice really. After this we went to Maya Bay which is where "the beach" was filmed (Leonardo DiCaprio film). We got to do some snorkelling and there we're loads of fish it was really good Dan and I were the only ones who really had a go. The we went to the actual beach, the sand is so soft and clean not like the mainland beach. We headed back to the mainland over the choppy waters in our not so sea worthy boat!!!! But we made it.
The next day it was time to head back to mainland Phuket. Our hostel was nice but that's all it had going for it. It's a hard place to describe but I think the place you go for a Thai bride! We we're offer to go to loads of ping pong shows (they made beeline for Dan) or to have our picture taken with animals (so sad) plus there were lady boys all over. We went for a drink in one bar but because I was there it took forever to get served so we left. They like men on their own.
Next day it was time to pack up and head north to Chiang Mai.
I'm having a bit of trouble with pictures at the mo I can only put them in that one folder so there a bit jumbled I'm afraid but I'm working on it. Sorry.
