We arrived in Airlie Beach on Easter Sunday (no chocolate this year!!) after a night on the greyhound bus! We both managed to get some sleep which was good as we had to walk about 20mins to the hostel in the boiling sunshine (it's a hard life!) The hostel is a bit crappy but it's only one night so we go and check in for our boat trip.
Up the next day and pack ready to set sail at lunchtime. Our boat is called the Broomstick and holds 25people (it's a bit cosy to say the least) we end up sleeping on bunks in the kitchen area! We set sail for the Whitsunday Islands and after a couple of hours Captain Rob tells us we are at 'Blue Pearl Bay' and it's time to go snorkelling. There were loads of fish bits it's freezing so we only lasted 45mins but it was good. Then we set off for 'Hook Passage' for the night, the food on the boat was amazing we haven't eaten so well since we left home!
The next morning we are woken at 6.20 for breakfast although we didn't get much sleep as the kitchen was a busy place all night! We set sail for 'Tongue Bay' and walked to a look out over Whitehaven Beach (quite famous apparently although we hadn't heard of it). It was pretty though, we had 3 hours to swim and sunbathe there should of been stingrays and sharks but the tide was too far out. We saw some turtles when we got back on the boat they are massive but so chilled. We snorkelled again in the afternoon at 'Luncheon Bay' but it was so cold and we couldn't see much that we didnt stay in the water very long. So we set sail again for 'Langford Island' where we were given nachos to watch the sunset with (it was cloudy and cold!!) Then we set off for 'Stonehaven Bay' to sleep it was quite windy and started to rain.
We got woken at 6.30 (a lie in) and set off for 'Caves Cove' while we ate breakfast. We got there and they told us we could go snorkelling (it was 7.40 in the morning, not our favourite idea the captain had!!) In we went but the visibility was rubbish, it was raining and we were freezing so we gave in and got back on the boat.
We set off back to the mainland as we were sailing back, Dan and I were chatting to the crew when we heard a loud bang!! One of the ropes on the front sail snapped and it was flapping about, (I thought we were going to tip and sink) apparently this happens all the time! We were back on dry land in no time.
