Hi everyone
Arrived in Bangkok on Thurs night (I think it was!) After my flight was delayed for about 3 years eventually got in to the airport in Bangkok at about 1.30am I think... Managed to find the only other 3 white people on my flight who were obviously backpackers and on their way to Koh San Road - where every backpacker goes - and jump in a taxi with them - made it a lot cheaper and somehow I managed to get out of payiong somehow - I'm not really sure what happened!
So arrived on Koh San with another girl and found the hostel that Mel, Katie and Claire were in. They were fuklly booked so I had a wander round the street and looked at a few disgusting hostels before finding somewhere to stay for the night. Wandered round for about half an hour trying to figure out where they were, got some change to call them from a payphone and then bumoped in to them on the street! Needless to say there was a lot of squealing! Stayed up til about 7am chatting rubbish and headed off to bed!
Didn't really do that much sightseeing the first couple of days - hung round this area - loads of cool markets and stuff here and it;s where all the atmosphere is. It's cool, but not really my scene - lots of rowdy chavvy people getting absolutely off their faces!
John arrived a couple of days ago and Paddy arrived today, and we're off down to Koh Samui - on of the islands - tonight on a night bus. It's very very cheap comparedf to all the other options we looked at so we're a bit worried something's gonna go wrong or there's a catch! There;s a lot of people trying to con you out of your money here... have to be careful!
Had a look round a couple of the big temples, and the reclining Buddah, the Grand Palace and a bit of a trip dfown the river which was a bit dramatic as John fainted! He's fine - think it was just the hangover, heat, jetlag and boat combinmation eek. The thai food is amazing! So cheap, we just had lunch and a couple of drinks and it cost a pound! Yay. Did a bit of a day tour a couple of days ago too - to the floating markets, river Kwai and were supposed to go to the Tiger temple - where you can stroike and sit with the tigers, but it rained and apparently they get very lively and it can be dangerous in the rain so we didn't go in. Want to see if I can go back though. Saw a baby tiger tied up and being trained by some thai people by hitting it with a big stick which was a bit dodge, there's loads of stray cats and dogs here, and everyone is hassling you for money or to sell something.
It's cool though, the city is crazy and so busy! Its very hot and humid - hoping for a bit of beach time tomoro - its wet season up here and iit literally pours about 3 inches of water everyday, its crazy! Not sure what else... Just a quick one to say hello! Off to the bus in a min and my net time is running out! Have LOADS of pics to put on but the connections are sooo slow!
