Our most active day of the trip. We started by climbing Bald Rock, 260 meters high (see photos). The climb was at a 30 degree incline. It was a good climb but we will suffer tonight. Next was a trek to Boonoo Boonoo Falls and Gorge, a much easier walk. Nice falls and a great gorge. Driving south from Tenterfield along the highlands of the Great Dividing Range, we stopped at Glen Ellis, the center of the Celtic heritage in Australia and home of the annual Australian Celtic Festival - 4 days of everything Celtic. The Australian Standing Stones were a bicentennial project in 1988 and are based on similar ancient Celtic structures in Britain, etc. Our final stop was Armidale and the Wollomombi Falls and Gorge. See the photos for more info. on all of these sites. The highlands of the Great Dividing Range are rolling hills and green valleys that mainly support cattle and sheep industries. The scenery is quite pleasant and the drive is interesting. Great weather today - sunny and not too hot (mid-20s).
