Day 92
We were excited about going to watch our first AFL match and even more so that it was at the MCG. Especially Al as this was an early birthday present for him from his friend Carl.
We arrived at 1100 to collect our tickets and the gates opened at 1200 for kick off at 1410. The seats are first come first served and not allocated, so we sat for 2 hours before the game started. Due to it being Richmonds centenary year they had Ozzie Rules Footie on the ground for the kids as entertainment. They also had appearaces from some of AFLs legends.
Richmond came out to there song that sounded like a carnival song, although the crowd went wild. They were playing Carlton and they came out to there fans cheering. Much to our surprise was that both sets of fans sat in the same areas, they were not divided like back in the UK.
The game was neck and neck all the way through, Richmond tended to lead by a couple of points until the last quarter. Carlton then took the lead and eventually won by 118 to 88.
By the end of the game we were freezing so we headed back. The game was awesome and we learnt the rules as the game went on. We did realise how much the ozzie's love footie by the end of it though as they were enthusiastic all the way to the end.
