Our second half of the long week in Saigon was not much more successful than the first....
Sean came down with the stomach bug I had earlier in the week, so a few more days in bed in the room with really rubbish films. I never ever need to see 'The One' with Jet Li and Jason Statham, 'Braveheart' - so factually inaccurate it's starting to annoy even me now, 'The Switch' with Jennifer Aniston - the premise of this film is beyond ludicrous. We did however manage to catch Home Alone 2 - three times.
We did have some great food in Saigon, from the few restaurants still open. I also had to eat alone on a couple of occasions (hear the violins) as Sean was too lazy/ill to move. He got lots of snacks and soda water in bed (we've been told that soda water is good for the stomach, still not sure if we believe this but we'll give anything a go). Of course we found a coffee shop, lots of ice blended frappucinos and at least one slice of cake a day.
DHL finally opened on Monday and we were out of HCMC faster than you can say "TET!" and onto a sleeping bus. Everything is still at ridiculously inflated prices because of the New Year, and there was also not a direct bus leaving until the next day. Desperate to leave and carry on with our journey, we jumped on a local sleeper to Danang and hoped they would drop us off on the way. So we leave HCMC with no visas and one long week, filled with illness and cake, and on our way north.
