Day's 76-79 29th-2nd October (San Carlos Bariloche-Esquel-Perito Merino) Argentina
12th Country Crossing & Ruta 40
Getting closer to the end now. The border crossing went smooth and the Argentine mountains and lakes looks beautiful. My first night spent in Argentina was at San Carlos Bariloche which turned out to be a snow ski village. I have noticed that Chile and Argentina look a lot more European to their northern neighbors, both people and buildings. I had two days in SCB and again I wish it was all rest, but the tyres and oil needed changing.
Ruta 40 is a road that runs north to south and used to be all dirt, I think it's about 1,600KM's long. It is a road well known to the motorcycling fraternity and is quite challenging. I have heard they are starting to pave it so I will have to see. Covered
100KM's of dirt in this report and it wasn't too bad although the wind in this part of the country is shocking.
Next more dirt.
Cheers
Greg
