Hi Guys,
Christmas was a little strange, we had a quiet one really... Did the usual stuff, woke up opened cards and chilled out for a bit before getting into our Christmas Clothes!! We had pre booked Christmas lunch at the hostel as it was cheap and easy (like the Bangkok girls).
Both walking into the bar a little excited about dinner, and then we saw what was being served! KFC bread crumbed chicken, potato salad, roast tats and some coleslaw! Yummy, it was very verydry and we didn't eat much, no way near as much as I (Lee) would have scoffed at home. We chilled out in the bar after dinner, had some drinks and then played a few games of pool. Both had to have an early night as we had booked to do the Great Ocean Road tour, a 6am rise.
Boxing day, Great Ocean Rd!! Today was quality, got picked up nice and early from our Hostel by our tour guide Cameron and headed towards the Great Ocean Rd. We stopped of at some famous landmarks, such as Bells Beach, a lighthouse (the one in Around the twist), couple of surf towns and then stopped off for lunch with the Koala's. Touching a Koala in the state of Victoria is illegal…but theres always one (a foreigner) who didn’t quite grasp the concept of not touching!! Felt a little sorry for them as they were being chased around every time they moved!! Was really cool to see them in their natural environment though. After lunch we headed to the Twelve Apostles!! AMAZING!! Got to do a few walks down on the beach. The water was extremely rough, and COLD!! We paddled, ha ha. Interesting to learn that they are changing all the time. Since Marc & Becky were here at the beginning of the year 2 have fallen down! The cliffs corrode 2-3cm a year! Also, there were never actually 12, there have only ever been 9. Arrived home about 8.30pm.
Yesterday we got up nice and early, and hopped on a tram to the Old Melbourne Gaol. Was really interesting, we also got to “get locked up”. The watch house next to the gaol was in use up until 1995. We got shipped in, treated like criminals, locked in a cell! Was quite scary!! (also had our mug shot taken!) After the gaol, we wandered around the city and did some shopping as the weather was overcast (again!). In the evening, we put on our glad rags and headed to the Crown Casion! Wow!! Was great fun, champagne and strawberries (2 glasses of sparkling wine and 1 strawberry, lol!) had a go on the slot machines, I won my money back and Lois lost :O( all in all a really good night! Will definitely be heading back there before we leave!
Next time we log on will be after New Years, we will be in Sydney then! Hope you all have a cracking night and a Happy New Year!!! Lee and Lois xx
