Hey people, we spent 5 days in Alice Spring where we visited Kings Canyon, Uluru and The Ulgers. Kings canyon was about 400km south of Alice spring, this place was amazing especially given that there was thunderstorms, and two amazing rainbows. That night we slept in a swag under the stars. The next day we continued on for another 400km south when we reached Uluru (Ayres rock) and The ulgers. First we visited The Ulgers which are around 36 massive boulder rocks 20km away from Uluru, these were amazing with the shape and size of them. They never get photoed though because they are so sacrid to the abboriginies which is why no one knows about them. After this we then watched the sunset over Uluru, this was amazing with the rock changing colours throughout the evening. Again we slept in swags under the stars. The following day we got up and watched the sunrise over uluru and were hoping to climb it . There is a big debate if you should climb it or not, this is becasue there is a rail up the side of it which allows you to climb it but the abboriginies really dont want you to climb it becasuse it is a very sacrid site for them. We didnt get to make the choice tho as it was closed to climb because if the temp is over 36 degrees then it is closed anyway. This was a bit frustrating but we walked around the bottom of it and it was just cool to see it. We then travelled the 800km back to alice spring and chilled out for a couple of days until we had a flight out to cairns.
We arrived to cairns and the next day had our scuba diving course booked. So we spent 2 days in a swimming pool / class room getting used to the equipment and learning the theory behind diving. Then for the next 3 days we went on a liveaboard boat out to the Great barrier reef. Here we did 4 guided dives to get our Padi open water qualification, one fun dive, and then we chose to do the adventure course, this meant we did a night dive, and then a dive to 30 meters and another fun dive with an underwater camera. During the dives we saw a loads of turtles, one was the size of a small car. In addtion to this we saw nemo, big clams. During the night dive we also saw 4 reef sharks that were swimming around us, this was quite a scary experiance as although they dont have any intention of eating you they still have all the characteristics of a normal great white shark.
Since then we have left cairns and are now at Airlee beach, here we are waiting to head to the whitesundays for 3 days and 3 nights on a pirate boat, which sounds loads of fun!!
Hope everything is okay back in england
