We arrived in Ulaanbaatar on Friday night to a temperature of -30 degrees C and yes, it was cold!! I have never experience that sort of cold.
The flight from Tokyo was 5 and a bit hours in a smaller plane (the size you would go on if you're travelling domestically in Australia). We had various layers of clothing on to be prepared for the cold weather, but the air conditioning in our seats didn't seem to be working that well...so we all sweltered!
Saturday we went out for a walk to get some groceries and check out the weather and it took Cara a little while to get used to wearing all of her clothes and walking on the slippery pavement. We ended up getting a taxi back, as trying to carry bags of groceries and making sure Cara didn't slip over, was all a bit too hard.
Sunday we went out on a bigger shopping excursion and bought ourselves some scarves. We came out of the shopping centre to find it was snowing! Such a wonderful surprise as we were told it hadn't snowed since before Christmas.
We went out to dinner Sunday night with some locals and have been invited to go skiing once Loche returns from site. Here's to hoping none of us break any limbs before we actually get to England!!
