We set off after breakfast at 7am. These two days were going to be spent mostly driving with pit stops..
We stopped at the Mataranka thermal pools. This was a man made swimming hole designed for soldiers but then opened to the public in the 1970s. It was beautiful, the pools were surrounded by rainforest with big massive palm trees. Again due to the rainfall, the water level was way higher than it normally was. There were tonnes of spiders and massive webs all around too so I had the fear about going right in for a swim...
We hit the road again and stopped at Daly Waters for a BBQ lunch. Daly waters is a very small town but it's famous for having the Northern Territory's oldest pub and Australia's first international airport. The pub itself is a small but very welcoming pub with memorabilia all over that has been left by customers - currency, bras, tops..... It also has a pool out the back where the BBQ area is.
We headed off to Banka Banka, where we were camping at a cattle station for the night. When we arrived, we were swarmed with millions of flys! We climbed to the top of the hill to watch the sunset which was beautiful. But again we were swarmed with flys.....
Dinner was ready for getting back, then another group arrived. We were sleeping inside a barn on swags... The plus side being the toilets and showers were awesome..... Wondering how I will survive the night......
