THE NAZCA LINES AND A WHOLE LOAD OF SAND!!!! 21st - 23rd March The next morning we were woken up quite early by the sound of the waves and the heat from the sun. BEACH PARTYYYY!!!!! The next day we were up at 5.30 with breckfast on the bus. It was an average journey, although Swampy got a fine for being to heavy (despite us all running to the front of the bus to try to make it lighter) and I slept most of the way. After a few hours we arrived at Paciffic Ocean for the first time. It was great to see the sea and to make matters even more impressive, we were also travelling through a desert with impressive Turkey Vultures ...

The next day we were back on the bus heading to Arequipa, Peru´s 2nd largest city. The city stands in a valley at the base of El Misti volcano, a snow capped perfect cone 5822m high. Its a very pretty city with nice spanish buildings and a beautiful main square, although there were roadworks going on everywhere and lots of dirty old builders! After settling into our hotel rooms we quickly got ready to go out and celebrate Sophie and Michelle´s birthday...

Another early start later and we were back on Sawmpy heading for Cusco and the horrors of the Inca Trail (something which I had totally put out of my mind until now)! We made a toilet stop along the way at the highest point that Swampy will drive through on the tour (4200m). There was a really cool but small market with the softest baby alpacas walking around with cute children and we were surrounded by snow covered mountains... very nice! We stopped for lunch a...

The next morning we were to say goodbye to Bolivia and hello to Peru. We packed up Swampy around 10am (lie in... whooop) and headed for the pre-inca ruins of Tiwanaku. We had an extremely sweet but sadly very boring tour guide on the truck with us for the first time that morning.
